Beat the Pack, Break the Fast

Posted on

They say that “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” however with our busy schedules it's hard to make healthy breakfasts at home. One of the best way to start off your morning is with a bowl of oatmeal. It is very healthy and nutritious, but it simply doesn't have any taste to it.

So here are couple of ways you can make oatmeal look amazing with flavor.

Before you get started you'll need a measuring cupmeasuring spoons, and a cutting board.

Simple Overnight Oatmeal with Blueberries

  • 1 cup rolled oats (old fashioned oats)
  • 1 cup almond milk (or milk of choice: soy, whole, 2%, etc)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • agave syrup (or honey, maple syrup)
  • blueberries
  • sweetened shredded coconuts
  • sliced almonds

1. Fill a large or a small container (depending on the number of portions) with: oats, milk, and cinnamon.

2. Cover and refrigerate for 2+ hours.

3. Sweeten the soaked oats with agave syrup (honey, maple syrup, or sugar/brown sugar) and serve.

4. Add blueberries, ground cinnamon, sliced almonds, or sweetened shredded coconuts to your preference.

Some Variations

  • Can be eaten cold or warm.

Vanilla Almond Oatmeal with Strawberries and Kiwi

  • 1 cup of Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Almond milk, Unsweetened Original flavor
  • 1 tsp of honey

  • Kiwis

1. Mix the following ingredients: oats, almond milk, honey and vanilla extract, and place it in a pint size (preferably 16 oz) mason jar or an airtight container.

2. Close the lid and and shake to combine.

3. Refrigerate mason jar or container for 8 hours or up to 5 days.

4. Remove lid and microwave container for 2 minutes.

5. Add strawberries and kiwis to your preference.

  • Feel free to add in almonds, blueberries or both to your preference.

Your morning breakfast doesn't have to be oatmeal every single morning. You can also make other quick breakfast recipes. We recommend:

Toasty Fried Egg with Avocado on Toast

  • 2 eggs (fried sunny side up)
  • 2 slices of bread (toasted)
  • 1 small avocado
  • 1 tsp of lime juice
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper
  • Parsley (optional for topping)

1. Place slices of bread in the toaster and toast it to your preference.

2. Place eggs on a frying pan and cook them to your preference.

3. Create guacamole spread: peeling and mashing avocados, and mixing it with lime juice, salt and pepper.

4. Spread the guacamole spread on your toast and then place the fried eggs on top of the guacamole spread.

5. Add additional seasonings if required.

Now if you're really in a hurry then your best option is to create a Smoothie.
